Nastia Liukin Ends Gymnastics Career with a Dramatic Fall During Olympic Trials
Liukin is a true champion. In some ways I think going out like she did, proves how much of a champion she is more than winning. In what would be one of the final moments of a 20 year career, Liukin missed the bar during her routine and falls flat – knocking the air out of me!
Visibly upset the Olympic champion walks over to the chalk, preps her hands and with a boost from her dad and coach, finishes her routine. The 13.950 that she receives for a score does not capture the heart and will of the defending champ as she finishes her routine.
Gabby Douglas would go on to earn the first spot on the US Olympic team winning the all around title.
