Glee Cast Tried To Save Cory Monteith
As we reported last night, autopsy reports have confirmed that Cory Monteith died from a deadly mix of alcohol and heroin. Many people suspected his drug use was to blame for his sudden death, and they were right.
Well, now the story just gets even more heartbreaking. It turns out that it was his Glee co-stars and producers who urged him to enter rehab earlier this year. According to a source close with the show, everyone on set could see that Cory was falling back to old habits. They even knew that heroin was his drug of choice.
An insider told TMZ that several of his close friends sat him down for an “intervention.” He reportedly didn’t deny his drug abuse, and the source says he was grateful that his friends cared so much.
“He was always so grateful and aware of how fortunate he was. The decision was to best help our friend. The needs of the show fell second to his well-being.”
Sadly, his 30-day stay in rehab just wasn’t enough to keep the 31-year-old clean. He left behind a lot of friends, family and fans. He also left behind his girlfriend Lea Michele who has been spending time with his family.
She released a brief statement yesterday afternoon,
“Lea is deeply grateful for all the love and support she’s received from family, friends and fans. Since Cory’s passing, Lea has been grieving alongside his family and making appropriate arrangements with them.”
Such an unfortunate situation.
