Stephen Collins Played A Pedophile Priest In Short Film, Was He Crying For Help?
This Stephen Collins story just gets stranger and stranger every single day. We were already shocked to hear the former 7th Heaven star admit to molesting several children during a therapy session with his wife, Faye Grant.
And now the disgusting surprises keep on coming. We have now learned that Collins took a role playing a priest who is confronted by one of his molestation victims in the short film, Penance. The film was released back in March and has gained some attention in the 2014 film festival circuit.
The director of the film, Jeff Wolfe, reached out to People magazine to make it clear he had no idea about Collins’ sickening past. He says the movie was shot back in 2013, which was well before this news was made public.
“When I cast Stephen Collins, I had no idea there might be a connection between his real life and the part I asked him to play. I found the recent allegations particularly shocking, as my film is meant to speak to victims of abuse and the idea that the effects of abuse never really go away.”
Of course, in a twisted way, this will probably act as the greatest promotion ever for the movie. Everyone is going to want to see the 10-minute film now. According to the director, all proceeds from the film will be donated to the James Storehouse Foundation.
As for Stephen’s wife? She claims her husband was crying out for help. In fact, two weeks after this film was released, Grant sent her husband the following email.
“You sexually molested a child using your role as a minister to engender trust. YOU ARE BEGGING TO BE INCARCERATED, STEPHEN.”
The 67-year-old actor is due in court next month. We’ll keep you updated.
