Lindsay Lohan Out Of Hospital After High Fever And Severe Joint Pain From Rare Virus
The rumors are true, folks. Lindsay Lohan was hospitalized earlier this week in London, but it had nothing to do with alcohol or drugs, so let’s not even start with the relapse jokes. The 28-year-old actress reportedly had a high fever and was suffering from severe joint pain after contracting the Chikungunya virus in Bora Bora last month.
We know, we know. Chik-a-WHAT?! According to the reports (and some research on Wiki), those pesky mosquitoes carry the virus, and that’s apparently how she contracted the virus. After getting the virus, the victim usually experiences an extremely high fever for the first week or two. And the severe joint pain can last years in extreme cases. Luckily, it’s not a particularly deadly virus. The mortality rate is a little less than 1 in 1000.
As we mentioned above, Lindsay got the virus while vacationing in Bora Bora last month. On New Year’s Eve, Lohan posted a photo to her Instagram with a message that read, “In good faith with good people. I refuse to let a virus effect my peaceful vacation be safe and happy on the new year all #wildfox and a positive, healthy new year.”
She managed to deal with the virus on her own for a few weeks, but here recently the pain has been getting worse. We are told she was having trouble walking because the joint pain was so severe while in London. That’s why she took a trip to King Edward VII’s hospital in London. They treated her for the “unbearable” pain, and she was released yesterday afternoon.
The hospital staff managed to get her fever down, which is why she was allowed to leave, but they didn’t have much luck in the joint pain department. According to TMZ, they have referred her to a specialist.
Sounds like it’s going to be a long year for Lindsay. We certainly wish her all the best.
