Amber Heard Is Awesome, Donates $7 Million Settlement From Johnny Depp To Charity

Amber Heard shut the haters up on Thursday. For weeks now, people have claimed the actress was making up these abuse claims to squeeze more money out of Johnny Depp. The claims were quite ridiculous, especially when you consider the amount of evidence she had against Depp.

The 30-year-old actress has said all along that this case was not about the money, and she proved it yesterday by donating all of her divorce settlement money to charity. That’s right, folks…she’s giving it ALL to charity.

Heard’s $7 million settlement will be split between two charities: the American Civil Liberties Union, specifically to prevent violence against women, and the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles.

The actress explained her decision in a statement to the media…

As described in the restraining order and divorce settlement, money played no role for me personally and never has, except to the extent that I could donate it to charity and, in doing so, hopefully help those less able to defend themselves. Hopefully this experience results in a positive change in the lives of people who need it the most.

According to TMZ, Heard also forfeited all residuals Depp earned from movie deals during their marriage, which is something she could have easily received because there was no prenup.

A rep for Children’s Hospital thanked Heard for her generous donation, “her generosity will support the lifesaving treatments and cures that CHLA provides for critically ill children each year.” 

At least this story has a happy ending. Well, I guess the best ending of all will be watching Depp’s career slowly crumble, but we’ll accept this for now.
