Uh-Oh! ‘TODAY’ Show Host Hoda Kotb Reveals She And Longtime Partner Joel Schiffman Have Split!

Joel Schiffman is probably saying, “Sh*t, man” after Hoda Kotb decided to kick him out of bed.

On Monday morning, during TODAY with Hoda & Jenna, the 57-year-old journalist revealed she and her longtime partner Joel have split after more than eight years together.

You see, even though they’ve been together for eight years, they just got engaged back in November of 2019. And here recently, fans noticed that Hoda hadn’t been wearing her engagement ring.

So, she decided to address the situation:

Joel and I have had a lot of prayerful and meaningful conversations over the holidays and we decided that we’re better as friends and parents than we are as an engaged couple, so we decided we are going to start this new year … on our new path as loving parents to our adorable, delightful children, and as friends. It’s not like something happened. They say sometimes relationships are meant to be there for a reason, or a season or for a lifetime. 

They have two daughters together, so they’ll have to figure out coparenting, which is not an easy thing to figure out.

The good news is that there doesn’t appear to be any bad blood between them, at least that’s the message Hoda is pushing. She claims that Joel is a great guy and she was lucky to have been with him.

He’s a great guy. He’s a very kind and loving person, and I feel privileged to have spent eight years with him. We are both good and we are both kind of going on our way and our path. We’ll be good parents to those two lovely kids.

Still though. To be with someone for eight years, and to have kids with them. That’s a rough breakup. No doubt about it.

They had planned to have their wedding back in November of 2020, but COVID-19 pushed things back, and it’s a good thing it did, or else they’d be looking at a messy divorce right about now.
