Mac Miller’s Drug Dealer Sentenced To Nearly 11 Years In Prison
Back in September of 2018, rapper Mac Miller was found dead at his home in Studio City. His death shocked the hip hop world, and when the toxicology report came back, it was determined that Miller died from “mixed drug toxicity” that included cocaine, alcohol and fentanyl.
One year after his death, police were able to track down the dealers that gave him the fentanyl. They raided the home of 39-year-old Ryan Reavis in Lake Havasu City. They found a doctor’s prescription pad, prescription pills, drug paraphernalia and a “usable” amount of marijuana.
He ended up pleading guilty to one felony count of distributing fentanyl. He was one of three people charged in the rapper’s death.
According to the reports though, Reavis was requesting just a five-year sentence because he claimed he was simply the middle man. He says he had no idea the pills he supplied were laced. But prosecutors obviously didn’t believe his story because they were requesting he get nearly 13 years in prison.
And it looks like the judge agreed, because on Monday, Reavis was sentenced to nearly 11 years in prison. Once released from prison, he’ll be supervised for three more years.
Miller’s mother, Karen Meyers, addressed the court before the judge handed Reavis his sentence…
My life went dark the moment Malcolm left his world. Malcolm was my person, more than a son. We had a bond and kinship that was deep and special and irreplaceable. We spoke nearly every day about everything – his life, plans, music, dreams. [He] would never knowingly take a pill with fentanyl, ever. He wanted to live and was excited about the future. The hole in my heart will always be there.
Three months following his death, Miller was nominated for his first Grammy for best rap album. His ‘Swimming‘ album ended up losing to Cardi B’s Invasion of Privacy.
