Channing Tatum Remembers How Terrified He Was After Painful Jenna Dewan Divorce

After meeting on the set of their 2006 movie Step Up, Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan got married in 2009 and then welcomed a daughter together in 2013. They appeared to be well on their way to building a perfect little family.

But then in 2018, they shocked everyone by announcing their decision to separate. They filed for a divorce later that year and it became official in 2019. And while it was a shock to their fans, we have to imagine it was even more of a shock to Tatum and Dewan, who had been together for over 10 years.

During a recent Vanity Fair cover story, Tatum talked about the painful divorce. He admits they were struggling for a long time and kept trying to live off the fumes of the beginning of their relationship.

I think we told ourselves a story when we were young, and we just kept telling ourselves that story, no matter how blatantly life was telling us that we were so different. But when you’re actually parents, you really understand differences between the two of you. Because it is screaming at you all day long. How you parent differently, how you look at the world, how you go through the world.

But even though he knew the divorce was needed, he was still terrified of going through life without a partner.
