It looks like ‘That ’70s Show‘ star Danny Masterson might be spending the foreseeable future behind bars. The 47-year-old actor was found guilty of rape on Wednesday inside a Los Angeles courthouse.
He was on the hook for three counts of rape, but was only charged with two of them. The jury was apparently deadlocked on the third charge.
According to the report, he now faces up to 30 years in prison. It’ll be up to the judge working the case to determine how much time he deserves. The sentencing date has not been released, but we will of course keep you posted.
For those who don’t know, Masterson was first charged back in June of 2020. He was accused of raping a 23-year-old woman in 2001, a 28-year-old woman in 2003 and another 23-year-old in 2003. In January of 2021, he pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
During a preliminary hearing leading up to the trial, a woman, who identified herself as Jen B., testified that she woke up to Masterson raping her. ‘The first thing I recall is grabbing his hair to pull him off,’ she claimed in her testimony.
After a long battle in court, the jury couldn’t agree on a verdict and declared it a mistrial in November 2022.
However, in the second trial, The Post reports that Judge Charlaine F. Olmedo allowed more evidence to be heard, including testimony that Masterson had drugged his victims before sexually assaulting them, aiding the jury’s decision.
Of course, Masterson and his attorneys have a different story. The actor still claims he’s not guilty of these crimes.
Obviously, Mr. Masterson and his wife are in complete shock considering that these nearly 20-year-old allegations are suddenly resulting in charges being filed, but they and their family are comforted knowing that ultimately the truth will come out.
It looks like the truth has come out, and it’s not looking good for Masterson.
