Miley Cyrus Slams ‘Hannah Montana’ Claims The Show Gave Her “Body Dysmorphia”
Do you remember the Disney show Hannah Montana? Of course you do. It was one of the most popular Disney shows in recent history, and it’s the only reason we all know who Miley Cyrus is. The show made her a star, but in a new interview with Marie Claire, the 22-year-old singer/actress compared Hannah Montana to Toddlers & Tiaras.
Miley claims she was forced to “look like someone that I wasn’t,” which is a bit confusing. Isn’t that the point of acting? To pretend to be someone else?
From the time I was 11 it was, ‘You’re a pop star! That means you have to be blonde, and you have to have long hair, and you have to put on some glittery tight thing. Meanwhile, I’m this fragile little girl playing a 16-year-old in a wig and a ton of makeup. It was like Toddlers & Tiaras. I had f—ing flippers.
And after four seasons of being “made pretty” and developing that superstar look, Cyrus claims she had no idea who she was anymore…
It probably caused some body dysmorphia because I had been made pretty every day for so long, and then when I wasn’t on that show, it was like, ‘Who the f— am I?’
But you hardcore fans of the new and improved Miley don’t have to worry. She won’t be selling her soul anymore. The pop star told the magazine that she will never be the face of a traditional beauty company…
I’m probably never going to be the face of a traditional beauty company unless they want a weed-smoking, liberal-ass freak. But my dream was never to sell lip gloss. My dream is to save the world.
Good luck with that, Miley. You are obviously off to a great start on your world-saving adventure. I mean, how could this lovely MTV promo not save the world? So much courage she has.
