Heavy D’s Death Attributed to a Pulmonary Embolism and Deep Leg Vein Thrombosis.

Mystery solved.  Heavy D’s, (Government name: Dwight Arrington Myers) death was due to a pulmonary embolism.

The 44 year old Hip Hop Icon’s cause of death was reported by the Los Angeles coroner’s office.  They say that he died of pulmonary embolism and deep leg vein thrombosis.

A pulmonary embolism basically is a blockage of the main artery that services the lungs and a deep leg vein thrombosis is basically blood clots in the legs.  This is being attributed to his long flight that he took the previous day from London to Los Angeles.

On top of that he was also diagnosed with arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease.

BLOOD CLOTS AND AIR TRAVEL

When taking a flight that is more than 4 hours your chance of getting a blood clot increases 200% to 300%.

When the clotted blood from your legs feed up into the lungs trouble occurs.  Women taking birth control pill or hormone therapy and overweight  women have a 30 fold increase of clotting.  So do business men who fly at least five times within 3 months.

PREVENTION IS EASY

When you take a long flight you should walk around and move your legs.  If you can, you should flex your toes back and then point them forward, this simple technique could save your life.  That’s all it takes to keep the blood moving in the veins.  You should be moving every two hours and don’t go into a deep sleep.  Cat nap – circulate cat nap.  A deep sleep is a recipe for clotting.

……And leave the drinks alone.

If Heavy D read these tips he could possibly still be with us today.
