The View’s Elizabeth Hasselbeck Continues to Frustrate – Says Obama “Should Not be Singing and Having Fun” [video]

Ok, so I watch the View.  Almost every episode, because it’s on HULU and I have to work through the night.  The show is entertaining and part of it is due to the mix of characters and personalities.

Whoopi is brilliant.  There is no denying, but she is a mature (at times) but a tamed, “Got to Keep her Job” Whoopi.  If ABC took of the cuffs, there is no doubt that Whoopi would have us rolling.

Barbara Walters – is a Legend, and she is still good.  She hasn’t caught the Oprah syndrome and refuses to coast on her fame, she is just as spunky as she has ever been.

Then we have Joy and Sherri Shepherd, two women I could kick it with everyday. If they worked at my job, I would eat lunch with those two everyday just so we can talk sh#$t about people.

This leaves Elizabeth Hasselbeck.  She is often an outcast, and many times I have felt very bad for her on the show.  Sometimes, many times, she has the unpopular opinion and finds herself having to defend her views.  I have found myself the underdog many times, so I empathize and root for her, just like I did when she was on Survivor.  Then she says things or takes a certain standpoint that just discredits her so much, that you start to be irritated.  The irritation adds and builds to the point when she opens her mouth you are like, “Oh just Shushh!!”

I think she has taken the role as underdog and victim and has overly embraced it.  The thing that set me off this time, were her recent comments about Obama singing during the White House concert series with Mick Jagger and BB King.  Her comments regarding the video were:

“I think there is a time to dance…I just think you should not be singing and having fun until gas prices are lower and people are getting jobs.”

How absurd.  The once thought of as aloof and cold Obama should not smile or celebrate until unemployment is eradicated and gas is free.

Imagine this Elizabeth.  Imagine that you have BB King, Mick Jagger, and Buddy Guy performing at the White House. BB King is 86 and wheel chair bound and this is one of his last performances….and the president just calmly says, “Thank You” .   How ungrateful would that be.  How crappy of an experience would that be for everyone involved.  It’s not just what you, at home are feeling.  It’s about the entire White House.  It’s about the entire country.  The President is showing us that you can take care of business and even the worse day, have a positive outlook.

If your parents lose their jobs, have financial struggles or can’t pay their mortgage, are the kid supposed to suffer, or are Mom and Dad to put on a happy face, so the kids can go off to school feeling good and trying their best.  It’s called being a leader.

I think Obama is more aware of public perception then any president in our hisotry and he is very careful not to overdo things.  He’s not doing the Doughie, he just grabbed the mike and sung a few bars.

My advice Elizabeth is stop trying to be “controversial” and just be you.  Talk about what makes sense, but ditch the bitch.  There is no need to huff and puff.   When you are not trying to alienate yourself, then you are a lot more likeable, but this forced controversy about matters that don’t make logical sense just irritates everyone.  All it did this time was manage to snatch a morsel from the little cookie of credibility that you are holding on to.

Don’t take yourself or tings too serious – as Whoopi would say, “Take some time and Enjoy the view”.
