Cuba Gooding Jr. Turns Himself In, Bartender to Drop Charges
I’m sure poor Cuba Gooding Jr just wants it all to go away. What started off as the end of a long day of filming has ended up with a rumored warrant out for his arrest and Gooding eventually turning himself in to New Orleans police.
It all started at 2:00 AM yesterday morning when police received a complaint about the actor getting physical at a bar called The Old Absinthe House.
As witnesses on the scene tell it, CGJ became angry when some of the people in the bar recognized him and began to do what people do these days….they started taking pictures. Then they asked CGJ to take photos with them. Witnesses say that’s when Gooding became angry and started snapping at the patrons and was told to leave.
OH NO YOU DIDN’T!!
Gooding didn’t just go quietly he allegedly shoved one of the bartenders against a wall. (Cha-ching!!).
One of her co-workers called 911. The bartender then told CGJ that the police were coming and he needed to leave. There is no need to tell a black man that twice! Cuba (allegedly) pushed her again, and was gone!
The headlines all day yesterday were that there was a warrant for his arrest with the instruction to “arrest him on sight”. Today that has been cleared up. It was just a summons for him to appear in court and he is cooperating with local authorities. A rep for Gooding released a statement,
‘There is no warrant. Mr Gooding, his representative and the New Orleans authorities met this morning and are moving swiftly to resolve this misunderstanding.’
The Old Absinthe House said that the bartender does not plan to file charges. Cuba is currently in New Orleans to film “The Butler” with Oprah Winfrey.
