Randy Travis Drunk & Naked, He Was Just Trying To Get Some Cigarettes!
If Randy Travis was looking for inspiration for his next country song, then he got it. It could be called, Drunk, Naked and out on Bail.
The 53 year old Travis 53 was driving a Pontiac Trans Am when he approached a construction zone. After hitting several barricades the country singer drove completely off the road. Shortly after the accident, Grayson County, Texas police received a 911 call saying that there was a man down, lying in the middle of the road.
Update: Before the accident there was another 911 call from a convenience store clerk. He called to inform the autho
rities that a naked man came in to his store trying to buy cigarettes. When the clerk asked how he was to pay for them, he became angry and then left, taking off.
When the police arrived they suspected that Randy was drunk and smelled alcohol on his breath, but Travis refused to take a breathalyzer or blood test. Travis was then taken into custody where he begin to threaten officers telling them that he would shoot and kill them when he got free.
He was charged with DWI and “retaliation”. That’s what its called when you tell an officer “what” you are going to do to them when you get free. He had a $1500 bond for the DWI and a $20,000 bond for the retaliation charge. Apparently that’s not to be taken lightly. That crime is a felony, with a penalty of up to six years in jail.
Travis walked out of jail Wednesday morning wearing scrubs, no shoes and a University of Texas baseball cap.
This was the 2nd time this year that Travis had an alcohol related incident. He was charged with public intoxication after being spotted in a vehicle parked in front of a church in Sanger, about 20 miles from Tioga where he lives.
The destiny of every alcoholic is to be locked up, covered up or sobered up.
