Shia LaBuff? LaBeouf Reveals He Gained 50 pounds for New Role
Where has Shia LaBeouf Been lately? In the gym, that’s where. Shia LaBeouf has put on 50 pounds of muscle for his new role in his next movie. When I first read that, I assumed he was going to be playing some kind of super hero, or some heavy action film where he would be baring his chest but it’s neither.
The film is called Lawless and it’s an old school prohibition-era gangster movie.
During a screening of the movie, LaBeouf told reporters that he was edged on to train hard by costars Tom Hardy and Jason Clarke. The three play brothers in the film. LaBeouf felt that at his normal weight of 130 pounds that he wouldn’t look enough like Tom Hardy or Jason Clarke who were all much bigger than he. Shia explains that all three agreed to make weight changes accordingly to add some authenticity to their roles,
“There’s a fabric of the family that needs to exist, So had I showed up in my fighting weight — which is 130 — next to Hardy I wouldn’t have looked like I was related. So I shipped out at 180 and he dropped his weight. And Jason upped his weight and we all tried to level out.”
The film is about the Bondurant brothers who are successful bootleggers; so successful in fact that the government wants a share of their profits.
Here is the trailer for “Lawless”. The movie is expected to hit theaters on August 29th, 2012.
