Jovan Belcher’s Baby’s Paternity Questioned, Will She Get the NFL Payout?

It’s being revealed that there were questions over the Paternity of Jovan Belcher’s baby.  The mother of the Kansas City Chiefs linebacker said that her son and his girlfriend argued over who the baby’s father was before he shot her 9 times and killed himself.  The NY Post reports,

 “The mother believed that there was an issue over whether [Belcher] was the father.  She said he [believed he] wasn’t necessarily the father of the child.”

This was also confirmed by authorities,

 “She told [police] there was a question about the paternity.”

Belcher shot his (baby’s mother) Perkins after nearly an hour of arguing that started at 7:00 AM in the morning.  He then apologized to and kissed the dying Perkins and their baby before he left the house and drove to the practice facility.  He then shot himself in the head in front of the team’s coach.

THE PATERNITY BECOMES A HUGE ISSUE….

Per the NFL’s collective-bargaining agreement, the child will receive over $ 1million dollars paid out over time.  Here is the breakdown:

• Years 1 – 4: The child will get $108,000

• Year 5: $48,000

Every year after that, the child will receive $52,000 until she’s 18.  If she decides to go to college she will get that $52,000 for another 5 years until age 23.  Belcher’s beneficiary will also get $600,000 in life insurance, a $100,000 from his retirement account and $200,000 for every season he played in the NFL.

So, if it’s not Belcher’s baby – does she still get the NFL payout.  Trust me, with this much at stake, we will soon find out..
