Steve Harvey Breaks Down in Tears….Again

I’m giving Steve another pass.  The first pass he received was when he broke down sobbing when he announced his retirement from stand up comedy.  It wasn’t just a cry, it was an ugly cry. (See it here)

We now get too see “the cry” again.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY STEVE!

During his show, the producers hit Steve with the ultimate surprise.  Steve had told them previously of a couple that believed in him before fame and fortune hit. Before becoming a comedian, Steve Harvey was a carpet cleaner and owned his own business.  A couple who owned a travel agency gave Steve his first contract to get him started.  Then years later when Steve decided to go on the road as a comedian, the same couple helped him out with his travel expenses. This was all before he became a celebrity.

When the producers said that they had a surprise for Steve’s 56 birthday, the last thing he expected was for his staff to track down that couple.  The husband Rich Liss was flashed on the screen side by side with his wife in a satellite call.  Liss’ first words after 30 years to Harvey were,

Do you still love me, baby?

Steve heard those words and  the emotion just overcame him  He fought through tears and tried to recount the story to the audience,

‘They took me in and gave me my first contract with my little carpet cleaning company,”When I became a comedian at 27, I didn’t have money to travel. They gave me an account at their travel agency.

Man, I ran up a bill of like $11,000 just trying to travel and make it.’

‘You bailed me out, man. I never forgot it. Thank you and I love you.’
