Michael Douglas Reveals Throat Cancer Was Caused By Oral Sex!
Let’s talk about sex baby, let’s talk about HPV…let’s talk about sex.
The whole world was shocked when Michael Douglas revealed he had throat cancer. His appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman shocked quite a few people. He looked frail as he told Letterman that he had stage four throat cancer. However, he expressed some optimism when he informed the audience that it had not spread below his throat.
It was believed at the time that smoking, drinking and stress from having his wife enter rehab was the source behind the cancer diagnosis. But, in a new interview with The Guardian, Michael revealed some shocking news…
“Without wanting to get too specific, this particular cancer is caused by HPV, which actually comes about from (giving a woman oral sex).” the 68-year-old actor said. He then explained that he thought his six-month battle with the awful disease was going to end with him dying. He explained that he thought his son’s legal troubles (which landed him behind bars) made the cancer worse.
“I did worry if the stress caused by my son’s incarceration didn’t help trigger it. But yeah, it’s a sexually transmitted disease that causes cancer. And if you have it, (giving oral sex to a woman) is also the best cure for it.”
The Oral Cancer Foundation explains that HPV16 is known to be linked to oral cancer, manifesting itself in the back regions of the throat and mouth. Douglas did reveal that was suffering from a lot of toothaches and other infections in the mouth. He went to the doctors several times within a nine month period and none of the doctors could find anything wrong. They were clueless as to what might be causing the pain and the infections. However, one doctor finally noticed a walnut-size tumor at the base of his tongue…

Douglas lost a total of 45 pounds during his treatment for the cancer, “The amount of chemo I was getting, it zaps all the good stuff too. It made me very weak” the actor said. There is good news after all this, though. He has been cancer free for two years, and the chances of the cancer coming back are not great. In fact, 95% of the time it doesn’t come back.
I could make a lot of jokes about Michael Douglas getting himself some delicious pootang. However, I am more mature than that. This is a serious issue and I am glad Michael is bringing attention to it. I’m just going to bite my tongue and leave it at that…
