Miley Cyrus’ New Song Sparks Controversy

Oh, where did our little Disney princess go? Miley Cyrus is 20-years-old now and she is making sure that you forget about her days on Disney. She just released her new single, ‘We Can’t Stop’ and it’s filled with drug references and sexual references. It’s basically like a Ke$ha song, but not quite as terrible. The new song is her first single from her upcoming album, an album that just might feature a duet with Justin Bieber.

Let’s get back to the song in question, though. ‘We Can’t Stop’ is definitely not a song you would want your kids listening to. So, don’t see “Miley Cyrus” and think, “Oh, Hanny Montany! I wonder what she is singing about.” Because you’ll be shocked and then you’ll have to have a lot awkward conversations with your kid about drugs and sex. And we all know no one wants to have that talk with their kids. That’s what cable TV is for!

Anyway, in the new song, Miley sings, “Everyone in line in the bathroom/ trying to get a line in the bathroom.” A clear reference to cocaine, right? Unless there is some other line people try to get at clubs. A clothing line? Everyone seems to be getting one of those, maybe that is what she meant. She’s really just singing about entrepreneurship! Duh! But, wait, she also mentions something in the song about dancing with “molly” which is a known slang term for MDMA. She then goes on to sing about shaking it like she’s at a strip club.

It seems like Miley knew she would get some “haters” because during the song she says, “Remember only God can judge us/ Forget the haters cause somebody loves ya.” Ah, yes! The obligatory mention of, “God.” Because her “God” would obviously approve of snorting cocaine in the bathroom of a nightclub. F–k, she might be on to something! Maybe this “heaven” people keep talking about is just really one big nightclub in the sky. Who would the bouncer be? I’m trying to think of large people who have died recently, but I can’t think of anybody.

I should add that a rep for Miley’s producer told TMZ that Miley isn’t singing about “MDMA” in her song. The rep claims the line says, “Dancing with Miley” and not Molly. But, according to almost everyone who has listened to the song, it clearly sounds like she is saying, “Molly” and not “Miley.”

So, you’re just going to believe what you want on that. I mean, does it really matter at this point?
