More Fallout for Paula Deen
As we reported last week, Paula Deen is in a whole lot of trouble for some racist remarks she has made in the past. The celebrity chef offered several apologies, but it just hasn’t been enough to save her falling career.
We’re sure all of you know that she has been fired from Food Network. The network made the tough decision last Friday and pulled her shows off the air. Well, now there is more bad news for Paula Deen. Yesterday, Smithfield Foods announced it was ending their relationship with Deen.
Smithfield is the world’s largest producer of pork and they’ve had a close relationship with Paula Deen for a long time. She has been endorsing their products since 2006! Smithfield released a statement, explaining their decision…
“Smithfield condemns the use of offensive and discriminatory language and behavior of any kind. Smithfield is determined to be an ethical food industry leader and it is important that our values and those of our spokespeople are properly aligned.”
Man, her stock has certainly plummeted. Of course, it’s not really surprising that companies are dropping her. Even if she wasn’t guilty of anything, it’s not a smart business decision to even be associated with that kind of stuff. It’s best for them to just pull out now and not risk getting pregnant with a racist demon baby.
