Ben Affleck Reacts To ‘Batman’ Backlash
When it was announced that Ben Affleck would play Batman in the Man of Steel sequel, the internet went into full rage mode. Fans were outraged and disappointed by the casting news, but Ben Affleck claims he was ready for the negative feedback.
During an interview with Jimmy Fallon on Monday night, Ben Affleck opened up on the Batman controversy. He claims that studio executives warned him that news of his casting might make a lot of people angry.
Ben said the execs told him the following,
“Listen, we want to talk to you because people go through this process and it can be trying…We want to show you some of the reactions the past people who have been cast have gotten, like on the internet and stuff.
(They showed me) people who were in these movies who did a great job and (commenters would) say, ‘Kill him!’ You can’t say that before a movie comes out. It doesn’t matter what you think then, it matters what you think when you see the movie.”
After he agreed to take on the role, people warned him that he should avoid the internet for a few days after the announcement.
However, Affleck wasn’t having any of that…
“I said, ‘I’m a big boy. I can handle any snub. I can handle anything. I said, ‘I handle sh-t.’ I’m very tough. So, I saw the announcement, I look down the thing and I look at the first comment. The first comment goes, ‘Nooooooo.’ I’m like, ‘We’re going to be Luddites for a while, kids.”
Aw, that kind of makes you feel for the guy, but not really cause he’s still super rich and talented. I’m rooting for him to prove all the haters wrong. However, I will admit that I do have doubts that can pull off such a big performance.
