American Idol Finalist Josh Gracin Put on Psych Watch After Suicide Note found on social Media
You remember Josh Gracin right? He was the Season 2 American Idol finalist that stole America’s hearts because he couldn’t go on tour with the show because he was a Marine, and had to finish out his required service time.
Fast forward 11 years, 3 kids and 30 lbs later to this week.
Thursday he went missing and then posted what appeared to be a suicide note on Facebook. Anyway you read this note, this is from a man who is ready to end it all. Here is the post, [more…]
With 232,810 likes on his facebook page, someone was bound to see it and call the police. They were dispatched to his home and according to TMZ Josh was not there when they arrived. They were able to reach him on his phone and he told his wife he was coming home.
Authorities intercepted him on his way home and he drove himself to the hospital with a police escort. He has been placed on a 5150 psychiatirc hold.
LEARNING MOMENT – 5150 Psychiatrick hold
which allows a qualified officer or clinician to involuntarily confine a person suspected to have a mental disorder that makes him or her a danger to self, a danger to others, and/or gravely disabled.
Basically that means he can’t leave until they say he can.
A note from Josh’s manager Amy on his facebook page says,
Good evening everyone. This is Josh’s manager, Amy. First, thank you everyone for your prayers and concern. Josh is safe and with his family now. We ask that you please respect their privacy during this time and continue sending your well wishes. I promise to update you soon.
Also noted is a cancelled appearance at a show in Charleston, West Virginia.
SUICIDE – HOPEFULLY IT’S NOT TRENDING
With all the coverage of Robin Williams death this week and the (over) celebration of his life, let’s hope that other celebs don’t think that they too will be remembered as fondly. If you are a celebrity and reading this, just remember – Robin Williams was a mega-superstar, you are probably not. You will not be celebrated but you will be leaving behind those that love you and care for you the most.
Don’t be afraid to get help. You are worth more here than gone.
Word.
