Lupita Nyong’o Says Fame Can Be Awkward, Especially When You Have To Use Public Restrooms
Don’t think the 31-year-old actress is complaining about being famous. She’s not. However, she recently admitted in the March issue of Lucky that being famous can leave you in the middle of some awkward situations in real life.
When you’re in the middle of Manhattan and you have to pop into Starbucks to use the restroom and everyone recognizes you when you’re waiting in line, it’s awkward.
Ah, that’s awkward for ‘normal‘ people, too! Everyone is staring at you when you come back out, trying to determine if you went number one or if you decided to drop a quick two. We all have been there, Lupita.
The actress also talked about her mother’s strict rules on makeup. She admitted it was hard to understand as a teenager, but she is starting to appreciate it now.
My mother has never ever worn a drop of makeup in her life, not even at a wedding. Honestly, my mother’s outlook was hard for me to take when I was a teenager and wanted to experiment. But in the end I appreciated it, because today I can look in a mirror with no makeup on and love myself.
The fact that she is a natural beauty probably helps with the confidence. But it”s not all about looks, folks! Lupita is also extremely talented, and smart for her age. She is going to be around for a long time.
Hopefully she never gives us a reason to talk smack.
