Bye Bye Michael Strahan And Hello…Jeff Gordon? NASCAR Legend Could Join ‘Live With Kelly’ As New Cohost!
Now that the drama between Michael Strahan and Kelly Ripa is slowly (and we mean slowly) fading away, the attention has turned toward finding Kelly a loyal cohost who will never break her fragile heart. The search has been confusing and filled with more business cards than the fishbowl at your local Mexican restaurant.
But it looks like Kelly and the crew are beginning to sift through all the names, and a few people are starting to stand out. One of those people being Jeff Gordon. His name has been mentioned a lot lately, and this past weekend he was asked if he would be willing to join the show.
He told The Associated Press the following…
I am flattered that my name has been associated with that. I’ve always maintained a great friendship with the show, some of the producers and folks within the show. I had a great time cohosting, and I certainly would welcome it.
Great then! Get out the papers and have him sign! Or wait…not so fast. He does have other responsibilities at the moment, including his job with Fox Sports as a NASCAR analyst. He’s not ready to give that up; however, he hinted there might be a way to do both.
I will definitely be back in the booth next year; if there was something that could fit into and around that, great.
We’ll see what happens, but we doubt this will actually happen. We have been hearing how Kelly wants a BIG name, ya’ know? I just don’t think Jeff is popular enough. It’s like high school all over again.
In any event, Strahan has no regrets about leaving. In fact, he claims he really needed a break from the show. He told Chelsea Handler last week, “I really haven’t missed it. But I loved it. Don’t get me wrong: I loved it. When you get a break, sometimes you kind of go, ‘Wow, I kind of needed it.’ I needed a break.”
We’re sure Kelly will be happy to hear that.
