At 81-Years-Old Martha Stewart Makes History As Oldest Model To Cover Sports Illustrated
Looking for a hot 81-year-old to start your Monday morning off right? Look no further than the cover of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue 2023.
The lifestyle guru/inmate is the magazine’s oldest cover star ever. She wore a plunging white Monday Swimwear one-piece.
Stewart showed off a bouncy blowout and dewy makeup look for her shoot, looking decades younger than her actual age. The cookbook author was photographed by Ruven Afanador in the Dominican Republic for the shoot, sporting 10 elegant swimsuits including a sassy red Norma Kamali one-piece and a lace-up maillot by Isa Boulder.
Stewart admitted to being very nervous during the shoot. She even found herself “shaking” during some parts. She’s used to being in the kitchen or making arts and crafts, not stripping down to a swimsuit for a cover shoot.
She told the magazine the following:
When I heard that I was going to be on the cover of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit, I thought, ‘Oh, that’s pretty good, I’m going to be the oldest person I think ever on a cover of Sports Illustrated,’ And I don’t think about age very much, but I thought that this is kind of historic. Age is not the determining factor in terms of friendship or in terms of success, but what people do, how people think, how people act, that’s what’s important and not your age.
Of course, her words don’t actually mean much. I mean, are we really supposed to believe she doesn’t think about aging? She has spent thousands on plastic surgery to make herself look 20 years younger… but she doesn’t think about aging? Sure, okay.
But hey, good for her. I think we’d all have at least a little work done if we had the money. It would just be nice if everyone started to be a little more honest about it.
