Adele Claims She Had To Stop Drinking Because She Was On The Cusp Of Becoming An Alcoholic
On Friday, Adele was performing in Las Vegas, nearing the end of her residency there, and she saw some members of the audience enjoying a “pint” of whiskey sour.
Her mouth seemed to water as she told the audience that she stopped drinking nearly four months ago and she misses it a lot.
I stopped drinking … maybe, like, three and a half months ago. It’s boring. I mean, oh my God, it’s boring. I was literally borderline alcoholic for quite a lot of my 20s, but I miss it so much. I cut out caffeine [too]. So, enjoy your whiskey sour. I’m very, very jealous.
This isn’t the first time Adele has addressed her drinking problem. During a performance back in March, she revealed her drinking got a lot worse during the pandemic.
I remember when I came here in COVID, in lockdown. It was 11 a.m., and I was definitely, like, four bottles of wine in — like we all were. I said in 2020 that I wanted to put my album out. And we were all at home just drunk basically.
Damn. Four bottles of wine in before noon? That’s pretty impressive. Or sad. Or actually probably a little bit of both.
It’s good she realized this now before it became too much of a problem. After all, she’s a mother. She shares an 11-year-old son named Angelo with her ex-husband, Simon Konecki.
She’s currently engaged to sports agent Rich Paul, and sources say they plan to have a kid together.
