‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ Star Richard Lewis Dead At Age 76 After Suffering Heart Attack
Some sad news to report today, ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm‘ star and legendary comic Richard Lewis has passed away at the age of 76.
When news first spread, some people assumed it was due to his Parkinson’s diagnosis, but it was later revealed he died from a heart attack. He reportedly died inside his home in Los Angeles.
His publicist confirmed the sad news to Deadline, writing…
His wife, Joyce Lapinsky, thanks everyone for all the love, friendship and support and asks for privacy at this time.
Lewis was best known for his dark style of comedy, which he was able to highlight quite well with Larry David on Curb. He appeared as himself on more than 40 episodes of the show. He also appeared in a handful of films, including Leaving Las Vegas and Once Upon a Crime.
But he was of course best known for his comedy. Last Spring, he revealed that he had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and would be retiring from stand-up.
I’m finished with stand-up. I’m just focusing on writing and acting. I have Parkinson’s disease, but I’m under a doctor’s care, and everything is cool. I love my wife, I love my little puppy dog and I love all my friends and family. So now you know where it’s been at the last three and a half years. God bless you.
Just three weeks before his death, he told PEOPLE that he was doing well with managing Parkinson’s disease.
I have some occasional walking difficulties with Parkinson’s the last couple of years. It’s not major. I’m getting through it fine so far.
Our thoughts go out to his friends and family. He helped a lot of people during his time on Earth.
