Olivia Munn Reveals Breast Cancer Treatments Placed Her In Medically Induced Menopause
The good news? Olivia Munn is cancer free after being diagnosed with breast cancer last year and going through four surgeries in just 10 months. One of those surgeries being a double mastectomy.
The bad news? The cancer treatments have placed her in medically induced menopause.
She talked to People about her experience, revealing she began hormone suppression therapy in November of 2023 to reduce her risk of getting cancer again. The therapy ended up triggering menopause a little early.
“I’m constantly thinking it’s hot, my hair is thinning, and I’m tired a lot,” she told the magazine. It’s not clear if the symptoms will go away when she stops the treatments, or if this is simply her life now.
Elsewhere in the interview, Munn talked about how if this cancer diagnosis happened before she had her baby, she probably wouldn’t have been as afraid.
I was not someone who obsessed over death or was afraid of it in any way, [but] having a little baby at home made everything much more terrifying. When I’m with him, it’s the only time my brain doesn’t think about being sick. I’m just so happy with him. And it puts a lot of stuff into perspective. Because if my body changes, I’m still his mom. If I have hot flashes, I’m still his mom. If I lose my hair, I’m still his mom. That’s really what matters the most to me. I get to be here for him.
For those who don’t know, Munn shares a 2-year-old son named Malcolm with comedian John Mulaney.
Hopefully all is good now and the cancer stays away forever!
