NFL Condemns Kansas City Chiefs Kicker Harrison Butker Following Sexist/Anti LGBTQ Speech
We told you earlier this week that Kansas City Chiefs kicker, Harrison Butker, made headlines over the weekend for giving a pretty bizarre commencement speech at a private catholic university.
During his speech, he attacked “dangerous gender ideologies” and encouraged men to be more masculine. He also spoke out against abortion, and even IVF and surrogacy. He also said the most important title for a woman is a homemaker.
I can tell you that my beautiful wife, Isabelle, would be the first to say her life truly started when she started living her vocation as a wife and as a mother.
Additionally, he basically said gay people are just being consumed by the deadly sins. Oh, and he name dropped Taylor Swift by saying, “As my teammate’s girlfriend says, ‘Familiarity breeds contempt.'”
Yikes, right? That’s not a good look. It’s super weird to drag your teammate’s girlfriend into the mix. That’s suspicious behavior.
And while neither T-Swift nor Travis Kelce have responded to the speech, the NFL has, and they’re doing their best to distance themselves from Butker.
Harrison Butker gave a speech in his personal capacity. His views are not those of the NFL as an organization. The NFL is steadfast in our commitment to inclusion, which only makes our league stronger.
It’s gonna be interesting to see how this impacts the Chiefs next year. We can’t imagine Kelce giving this dude the time of day.
By the way, Butker makes $4 million a year just for kicking some balls around.
