‘The Good Place’ Actress Jameela Jamil Says She Destroyed Her Body By Abusing Laxatives During Eating Disorder
38-year-old actress, Jameela Jamil, best known for her starring role in ‘The Good Place,’ was on a recent episode of Kelly Ripa’s “Let’s Talk Off Camera” podcast.
And during the discussion, Jamil talked about struggling with an eating disorder for most of her life.
I took so many laxatives, I’m amazed I even still have an a–hole, to be perfectly honest. It’s a real trooper. It’s a survivor. I took any pill or drink or diet that Oprah recommended. I did it. I took it. You know, any very low calorie supermodel diet.
In addition to her poor a**hole, she says she messed up her kidneys, her liver, and even her heart. She also said she “destroyed” her bone density.
She says she’s being so open about this because not many people talk about the impacts of not eating enough. She believes there’s been too much focus on overeating.
That’s why I’m so annoying publicly about eating disorders and diets because there’s so much talk about the dangers of being in a bigger body and there’s no talk almost about the dangers of not eating enough, only eating too much.
That’s a fair point, but also, it’s worth noting that obesity impacts more people than being underweight to the point of it destroying your bone density. According to the latest data, around 70% of Americans are overweight, with 39% of them qualifying as obese.
But at the end of the day, weight is a difficult subject, no matter if you’re under or overweight. It’s nice Jamil is being so open about her struggles.
