Nicolas Cage’s Son Weston Has Been Arrested After Allegedly “Brutally Assaulting” His Own Mother

Nicolas Cage’s professional career has never been better. The 60-year-old actor has found a little bit of a hot streak in recent years, starring in highly rated films like, Pig, Dream Scenario, The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, and his most recent film, Longlegs.

But his personal life? Well, it’s a little unstable.

On Wednesday, his 33-year-old son Weston was arrested and charged of assault with a deadly weapon. This arrest is reportedly directly related to an incident that happened back in April with his mom, Christina Fulton.

In a statement released to PEOPLE, Fulton provided more details as to what happened that day…

On April 28th, 2024, around 5:30 p.m., I received urgent messages from friends of my son, Weston Cage, regarding his deteriorating mental state, urging me to come help. When I arrived to offer support and console him, he was already in the midst of a manic rage. Within minutes, I was brutally assaulted and sustained serious injuries.

She says she begged officers to detain her son for a psych evaluation, but they allegedly refused her request. Weston has struggled with his mental health and substance abuse for years now.

In 2017 he was arrested for a DUI and a hit and run. He briefly cleaned up his act after the birth of his first child, but clearly the sober life didn’t stick.

Cage hasn’t really talked about his son’s struggles in the media, but you have to imagine it’s difficult for him to watch. After all, Weston is his first-born.
