Was Toby Keith Really Going to be the Next Idol Judge?
Honestly, I think American Idol might have dodged a bullet with this. It has been confirmed that Toby Keith has indeed turned down the gig to be a judge on American Idol. It was confirmed to CountryWeekly.com that he was flattered but didn’t want to take the offer.
Keith just had his gallbladder removed rescheduling his show in Sparta, Wisconsin and is currently in the middle of his Live in Overdrive tour.
They said that he was approached early last month stating that the schedule of Idol was too demanding.
WHO IS IN THE RUNNING?
Rumor has it that Brad paisley, Nick Jonas and Pharrell Williams are all being discussed. Out of those three I would definitely say Nick Jonas would be the best choice. He has the widest appeal and fans who were Jonas brothers fans are now the age where they can really embrace Idol and most likely represent the demographic that does most of the voting.
I’m not thrilled with anyone on the table. I feel they need to go either the Pop legend/ Boy Band Route or Rock. Kid Rock, Usher, Babyface – what are these guys doing now? We are talking American Idol, literally the biggest talent show on television. Let’s get this right.
