Topanga From ‘Boy Meets World’ Says Creepy ‘Boy Meets World’ Producer Admitted To Having Photo Of Her In Bedroom
Danielle Fishel is best known for playing the lovable and eccentric Topanga on the hit series Boy Meets World. Almost every teenage boy had a crush on her back in the day, but apparently some of the adult producers did as well.
During an episode of the ‘Pod Meets World‘ podcast, Fishel discussed being “an object of desire at such a young age,” and then remembered an incident involving a creepy male exec producer.
I had people tell me they had my 18th birthday on their calendar. I had a male executive — I did a calendar [shoot] at 16 — and he specifically told me he had a certain calendar month in his bedroom.
That’s a yikes from me. Just imagine how Hollywood operated back then. This exec felt secure enough in his job that he knew he could say something like to a 16-year-old and not face any consequences.
Fishel admits she didn’t know how to feel at the time because she always wanted to be older. She was confused at the time.
As a kid, I always wanted to be older. I always wanted to be an adult. I wanted to be seen as an adult. So getting adult male attention as a teenage girl felt like — I didn’t think of it as being creepy or weird. I felt like it was validation that I was mature and I was an adult and I was capable and that they were seeing me the way I was, not for the number on a page. And in hindsight, that is absolutely wrong.
Yeah, I feel like a lot of child stars kinda see the world in that way. They’re spending an unhealthy amount of time with all these adults, some of who they look up to, and so naturally they want to be viewed as an adult too, which leads to them growing up too quickly.
Hopefully that’s slowly changing though.
