Pete Davidson Claims He Was High On Ketamine While Attending Aretha Franklin’s Funeral
You may have missed it, but Pete Davidson just launched a new comedy special on Netflix called, Turbo Fonzarelli. The special comes as a bit of a surprise because he’s been in and out of rehab for months now. He’s also had to cancel a number of shows due to his mental health struggles.
But apparently, he found the time to create a new special, and in it, he admitted that he was high on ketamine while attending Aretha Franklin’s funeral service back in 2018.
In the special, he claims he went up to Franklin’s family and said, “Hey! I’m just here to pay my R-E-S-P-E-C-Ts!” and while the audience laughed, he seemed a little ashamed about it. He also joked that he wasn’t famous enough at the time to attend the service, but he lucked out by being Ariana Grande’s plus one.
Now, Pete adds he was embarrassed being out and about while using ketamine — which he used for 4 years to treat depression — though the drug comes with a range of dissociative and hallucinogenic side effects. It doesn’t seem like Pete’s using ketamine anymore.
June 2023 was reportedly the last time he checked into rehab. For those who don’t know, he has borderline personality disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder, likely stemming from losing his father during 9/11.
It appears he’s currently in a good place. Sources say he’s been spending a lot of time with his new girlfriend, Madelyn Cline. They were spotted grabbing a bite to eat in NYC recently.
