Ashlee Simpson hits the Celebrity Divorce List

With a few exceptions we now come to expect when a celebrity gets married, in two or three years they will be divorced.  I’m not even sure why they go through with it, but they do and we report it.

Next on the list is Ashlee Simpson.  In the wake of the Lindsey Lohan buzz, we almost missed this little tidbit of news.

Ashlee was married to former Fall Out boy member Pete Wentz.  Of course in the official filing they cite irreconcilable differences as the reason for the divorce.  She is seeking spousal support and joint legal custody of their 2 year old son.

Official from their publicist:

“After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to file for divorce. We remain friends and deeply committed and loving parents to our son Bronx, whose happiness and well-being remains our number one priority. We ask that everyone honor our privacy as we navigate this next phase of our lives.”

Blah, Blah, Blah.  The exact same thing as always.

Just how long were they married – they tied the knot in may 2008.  No Pre-nup.  It’s rumored that Ashlee did the filing due to his Pete’s “Erratic” behavior.
