Jerry Sienfeld Goes in on the Royal Wedding!

I knew I loved Jerry Seinfeld for a reason (and not just because he really is funny).  He is not afraid to say what I, and hopefully a million others have been thinking:

The Royal Wedding is a “Circus Act”.  GASP!

I think I might have lost the last 25 readers who visit every day; but  I have to be honest,  the details of Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding are of no interest to me.

During an interview for Daybreak, Jerry Seinfeld was very blunt about his thoughts on the Royal Circus.

The comedian, promoting his stand-up show at the O2 on June 3, will undoubtedly cause controversy with his comments, which he made during an interview for Daybreak.

You know, it’s a dress-up. It’s a classic English thing of let’s play dress-up. Let’s pretend that these are special people. OK, we’ll all pretend that – that’s what theatre is,’

‘That’s why the British have the greatest theatre in the world. They love to dress up and they love to play pretend.

And that’s what the Royal Family is – it’s a huge game of pretend. These aren’t special people – it’s fake outfits, fake phoney hats and gowns.’

Adrian Chiles one of the Daybreak hosts was visually shocked. He said that he can’t bear Americans critiquing the Royal Family.

I guess he’s not a reader of this blog – I got a purse and some heels for you Adrian!!

Much to my delight, Seinfeld also defended Ricky Gervais

‘If Ricky does the Golden Globes again, everyone’s going to be excited and thrilled, I think everyone’s going to tune in to see it.

‘That’s your job – make people come to see what you’re going to do.’

Wow – I had no idea that Jerry and I had so much in common.  I guess multi-millionaires think alike.

I might call him to go hangout – after he gets a better hair cut.  Remember the bad hair cut episode, it looks like Jerry is living it.

The show about nothing continues to pull in tens of millions of dollars each year for the world’s top-earning comedian. After airing for nine seasons on NBC, Seinfeld has made $2.7 billion since it went off the air 12 years ago, a jaw-dropping figure Time Warner (who owns the show) publicized this spring. Seinfeld’s stand-up act remains lucrative and another NBC series, the unscripted Marriage Ref, brings in producer fees.  Source
