Tiger Woods on Crutches and an Airboot? (Photo)

Ohhhh the agony!  I can’t stand to see Tiger like this!  This is the first picture I’ve seen with Tiger on crutches and his leg in a dang air boot!

Technically Woods was diagnosed with a Grade 1 mild medial collateral ligament sprain to his left knee and a mild strain to his left Achilles tendon.  (taken direct from his website.)

Tiger made the announcement last week that he would miss the U.S. Open.   I think the move is good for Tiger, who is actually listening to his doctors for once.  The last time he chose not to take their advice, he made things worse.

This is his first miss of the tournament, which typically ends on Father’s day, since he has began his professional career.  He’s brought home the Father’s Day trophy three times (2000, 2002, & 2008).

Tiger said,

‘This is all about short-term frustration for long-term gain. The doctors told me, if I played, I would risk further damage to my left leg.’

What the main stream media forget is that he has had four surgeries on his left knee. There is speculation that some Achilles tendon surgery might have happened which explains the air boot.  Tiger is famous about being elusive regarding the severity of his injuries.  He claims that he will be ready to play in the AT&T National June 30th to July 3rd.  He needs time to heal, practice and then play.

NO STEVE? DID TIGER’S CADDY QUIT?

No, but he’s going to the U.S. Open without Tiger.  Steve his long time caddy has traded golfers.  He will be caddying for his friend Adam Scott.  Woods approved of the arrangement and we are almost certain it’s just for the Open tournament.  Steve’s gotta get paid!  The caddy typically makes 10% of the golfer’s purse.

Woods’ agent Mark Steinberg told The Washington Post:

‘Steve and Adam are friends… When Adam found out Tiger couldn’t play, Adam called Stevecalled Tiger. As far as I’m concerned, it’s just for the U.S. Open.’

People who continue to write Tiger off, will do so at their own foolishness.  He will get Jack’s record and will also break the record for most wins on the PGA and the European tour along with a host of new records.   Don’t forget he came in 4th at Augusta THIS YEAR!

Rest up Tiger, we can wait.  True fans can and will wait for their champions to return. Right Mav fans?
