Another Hot Weekend Surprise, one divorce and one wedding.
Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo jump the broom. SURPRISE!
They did it, renegade style. They had a small tropical ceremony with only 35 guests. Much respect for not blowing it out.
They didn’t even tell their guests that they were there for a wedding. That means – NO GIFTS!!! I love it.
This is the 2nd marriage for Nick who was married to Jessica Simpson. Those two were the one’s responsible for the entire reality couple craze. They were the original TV item. MTV’s “Newlyweds” was the shizz-nit back in the day.
Vanessa was also in a celebrity couple of her own, she dated Derek Jeter. Another notch on the Jeet-man’s belt.
HOW THE SURPRISE WEDDING WENT DOWN!
They invited their guests to a party with invitations that were in the form of plane tickets. They told them that the attire was “Island Chic”. At this point if you receive one of these tickets – you really have to think you know what’s going on right? I mean were they all really that surprised?
WHAT VANESSA WORE
Vanessa donned a two-piece Monique Lhuillier outfit featuring an intricately embellished lace corset with rose and crystal detail, paired with a signature hand tufted skirt made of silk faille.
The look was completed with a tailored bow belt at her waist and chapel length tulle veil.
Nick just rocked a Dolce & Gabanna suit.
The best part – thanks to the world of Reality TV we will get to see this all play out on a TLC special called “Nick & Vanessa’s Dream Wedding.”
That is if you like that kind of cheesy reality stuff. Pssst… it airs July 30th.
Nick made it clear on twitter, this isn’t going to be a show. I think he’s learned his lesson the first time. He tweeted,
“Just to clear the air on this, @VanessaMinnillo and I are doing a one time wedding special for TLC, NOT a reality series. Gonna be special!”
Yep – Lesson learned.
