Obama’s Sings for his Supper, Attempts a Version of Al Green’s Classic “Let’s Stay Together” at Fundraiser [video]
Obama revealed another hidden talent last night during his fund raiser in Harlem. He was at the Apollo giving a speech and made reference to Rev. Al Green, who was in attendance.
Then without warning, Obama breaks out into a snippet of “Let’s Stay Together”.
I’m not sure I would even call it a snippet; it was seven words to be exact.
I…I’m so in love with you,”
But seven words of the song on pitch and on time. One of the hardest intro’s to emulate and with the original artist in the audience, that’s a lot of pressure.
Apparently it was a dare of sorts, as he continued his speech Obama made reference to being challenged.
“those guys didn’t think I would do it. I told you I was gonna do it.”
“The sandman did not comeout”
“Don’t worry Rev, I cannot sing like you, but I just wanted to show my appreciation.”
The sandman is in reference to a character that pulled acts off the stage at the Apollo when the audience booed loud enough. There was no sandman for Barack, in fact if he would have kept going, he might have gotten some undergarments tossed at him. I guess it worked, the event was reported to have raised $3.1 Million dollars.
