The Biggest Loser’s Roy “Santa” Pickler Speaks Out About Getting Voted Off.
The Biggest Loser this season just gets better week after week. In the post Jillian Michaels era, the Dolvett vs Bob, Red Team vs Black Team battles makes for good TV.
Last week they voted off Roy aka Santa. Roy is a 63 year old Engineer and was voted off by an emotionally unbalanced team that continues to make poor choices based on mob mentality decisions. With no apparent leader, they will continue to be decimated.
I call it a mob mentality decision because the Red team didn’t look at facts, they took the fact that Roy looked sluggish and was alte for a few workout and thought,
“He’s not giving it his all, we are getting rid of him”.
If they were to stop for a minute and think, they would realize that you can’t lose 9 lbs without doing putting in the work. That’s exactly what Roy was doing. Roy tells People that he got voted off essentially because he was working out too hard! Roy was:
“doing workouts off-camera and when the groups weren’t together and often before the [trainer] workouts started in a day,”
I think that led to the group suspecting I wasn’t giving it my all when in reality I was just tired.”
OVERWEIGHT PEOPLE JUST WANT TO BE POPULAR?
That’s what it appears. Let’s face it, the contestants are emotionally challenged, that’s why they are on the show to begin with. They are in a place where they all finally fit in, and being popular is an addiction. Instead of making decisions that would either help someone who really needs to be on the ranch or help their team win the weigh in they vote off the people who are the least popular. No different then Adrian getting the boot two weeks ago. Roy used a logical approach in his vote for Kimmy,
“I’m an engineer by education and in an engineer’s mind that’s a logical approach, But it was obvious that as we went through other eliminations that I don’t have the same line of thinking as the rest of my team members.”
DISTRACTED? NO JUST A MISUNDERSTANDING
The red team said that they voted Roy off because he seemed distance and distracted. In fact he was getting more focused and helping his wife (who’s on the opposite team). She was having breakdowns and needed the support. Roy explains,
“Two weeks prior to getting voted off [my wife] Chris and I both had emotional meltdowns and we went off and worked through our personal issues. It strengthened our marriage, Had [the team] known that they probably would have understood and I probably wouldn’t have been voted off when I was.”
At age 63 Roy should be an inspiration to us all and plans to be.
“I’ve learned that if you really give it your all that you may fall flat on your face but when you get back up you can show the world what you’re made of, That’s what life is all about. We don’t need hold ourselves back. Ever.”
THIS WEEK
This week should be really good. From the preview, it appears that two players have taken weight and Bob and Dolvett are yelling during the weigh in. I suspect Daphne as one of the weight takers due to the grueling regimen Bob put her through all last week. She should have immunity, but as we are learning, no one does.
Here is tonight’s preview….
