Video of Danica Patrick’s Horrific Crash During Qualifying – She Escapes Uninjured! [video]
Danica Patrick had a rough day today during her qualifying race. The wreck looks devastating, but she survived uninjured and earned praise from her boss Tony Stewart,
“It was really impressive to watch how she just kept picking her way through the field, She got up to sixth at one point. I thought she did a good job. … There wasn’t any doubt in my mind that she would do that.”
I don’t really know jack about Nascar but it appears that the crash doesn’t disqualify Patrick, but just knocks her down a few positions for the start of the Daytona 500 on Sunday.
Patrick seemed to be in good spirits and was able to look on the bright side of things, suggesting that the backup car could be faster….
“It felt like a pretty big hit, so I don’t know what (the crash) looked like,” Patrick said. “I’m really just bummed out that we didn’t finish the last two corners. Instead we have a car in the wall and lots of damage and I’m sure a backup. But maybe the backup car will be faster.”
Patrick is facing the challenge of earning her respect in the stock car arena as she had to do when she started racing IndyCar’s. She knows all to well that the only way to do it is perform.
Tony Stewart feels confident that she has what it takes to get the job done. She displayed incredible self-control and patience, which is hard to do under the stress and strains of high speed racing, even as a seasoned professional. Stewart explained,
“There is more aggression and more confidence in her than she showed here today, It showed her poise and how she’s trying to make the right decisions to gain the confidence of the other drivers.”
