Michael Jackson’s Unreleased Catalogue has Been Compromised as Sony Reveals they were Attacked a 2nd Time….LAST YEAR!

After Michael Jackson’s death, Sony signed a 7-year deal for $395 million dollars to get their hands on his unreleased recordings.

Although Sony is keeping details of the incident on the low, the attack allegedly resulted in the loss of 50,000 music files worth an estimated $253 Million dollars!

The $395 Million dollars that Sony paid for the Jackson catalog, might seem like a lot of money, but it’s nothing when you consider they had a 10 album deal, with the Jackson estate.  To recoup their investment, they just need to average $40 Million an album.  When you consider that last year alone, Jackson recorded tracks with Freddie Mercury and Will I Am.

THE ATTACK HAPPENED A YEAR AGO!

Sony has been trying to really keep their security issues out of the spotlight and has done an exceptional job.  This incident actually occurred last year just after their first known attack.  In April 2011, Sony was attacked and 77 million Play Station gamers information was stolen costing the company $168 million in damages.

Sony has since plugged the security holes….they hope, and have charged two men with the incident, James Marks, 26, and James McCormick, 25.  Both men appeared at Leicester Crown Court in central England on Friday and pleaded not guilty.  They were arrested in May and charged in September.

NONE-A-YA

Basically Sony is saying that the incident is “NONE A YA” Business.  They stated that they informed the Jackson estate last year when the incident happened and they do not have to make these incidents public knowledge.  They would not confirm the amount of files compromised or their value at this time, but with works of Jemi Hendricks and other legends, they better make sure they have things buttoned up now.  After 2 attacks, they are now definitely a nice challenge for Hackers everywhere.
