Bloody Nose on Boxer Martin Tucker Leads FBI Too A Bank Robber!

Martin Tucker might have just made it to the big leagues.  Who is Tucker? A boxer who just put on a virtuoso performance winning a unanimous decision in front of a star studded audience including, Buster Douglas and hall of famer Tommy “The Hit Man” Hearns.  What he didn’t suspect was that a bloody Q-tip would be his downfall.

An FBI agent who was in the audience secured the Q-tip after the fight after playing a hunch that Tucker was one of the men involved in a bank robbery in Monroe, Mi.

THE ROBBERY

Back in July 2009 two men with semi-autos walked into the Monroe County Community Credit Union wearing the traditional ski masks, hoodies and gloves.  Just like in the movies their comments to the cashier were right on script

“Hurry Up”

“Give me all the money in the drawer”

They had a getaway driver parked outside behind the wheel of a stolen car and everything.  They drove across the border into Ohio ditched the car and ran into the woods stripping their clothes.

A citizen followed the car and tipped police to where the robbers fled and police were able to recover their clothing.  The DNA in a T-shirt found matched that of one, Quentin A. Sherer.  He was on file because he was already a convicted bank robber but when arrested he did not give up his accomplice.  Quentin had learned from doing time that there is nothing worse than a snitch.

The FBI decided to hit the social media to see who Sherer spent his time with and on his Myspace profile saw pictures of Quentin Sherer hanging out with Martin Tucker.  Physically Tucker was built and appeared to have the same physical features as one of the robbers from the surveillance video but there was no DNA for Tucker on file.

After learning that tucker was a boxer and that he had a fight coming up in Ohio, FBI agent Schmitz gambled that there would be some blood, hence securing the Q-tip.  His DNA matched that on the black mask found and on the getaway cars steering wheel.

Tucker was a Golden Gloves champion but struggled professionally.  He finally got his big shot and took advantage by winning, just to have it all come crashing down from something he did 3 years ago.  Sherer who was the obvious ring leader somehow convinced Tucker to go in on the bank robbery that would ruin not only his career but his life.  BTW  – they only got away with $5,379.

Tucker will spend the next 5-10 years putting his boxing skills to use trying to keep Bubba off his bunk in prison.
