Drunken Spectator Throws a Bottle on Track Before Olympic 100 M finals.
Ashley Gill age 34 was taken into custody as the suspect who threw a bottle onto the Olympic track right before the mens 100 M race. One of the most anticipated 10 seconds in the world. Literally hundreds of millions of people from around the entire globe have waited 4 years for this event and all eyes are watching.
Just before the race was about to begin, a green bottle is thrown on to the Olympic track!
There are pictures released of the alleged culprit being taken away. He was wearing a jacket that said, ‘Queen O’Towd Thatch’. This is a local pub and those jackets are worn by a soccer team that the pub sponsored. NICE PUBLICITY!
A police spokesperson said that a man was heard shouting at the contestants and then seen throwing the bottle.
Judo medalist Edith Bosch who had good seats for the race, actually missed it because of all the commotion. In a tweet translated to English she wrote,
‘A drunken guest throws a bottle for me on the track! I HAVE BEATEN HIM…. Unbelievable! # angry # disrespectful’.
WAS THE BOTTLE A DISTRACTION FOR THE RACERS?
Not really. American Justin Gatlin who took bronze says,
‘It was a little distraction and I didn’t know what it was. But when you’re in those blocks and the whole stadium’s quiet you can hear a pin drop. You just have to block it out and go out there and do what you got to do,’
‘You can’t complain about that, the race went on and it was a great race.’
Usain Bolt said that he didn’t notice at all:
‘No, I keep hearing that. I don’t know who would have done that.’
Neither did his training partner Yohan Blake,
‘I was so focused I didn’t see anything. I was so focused on just running to the line.’
It appears that both Blake and Bolt had a laser like concentration while Gatlin was still tuned in to things around him. This could have been the difference in the race. The results were Bolt, Blake, Gatlin in times of 9.63, 9.75, 9.79 respectively.
Here is a video clip of the alleged bottle thrower talking smack to USain bolt. He appears to be saying, “You ain’t running No where!”. To Usain. I guess he was wrong, Bolt set an Olympic record.
