Who the Heck is Trying to Sue the Deceased Ryan Dunn?
It’s been over a year since Ryan Dunn’s death. The star from Jackass crashed his Porsche back in June last year driving while drunk at super high speeds. He not only killed himself but also the passenger that was also in the car with him, Zachary Hartwell.
It must have been a painful time for Hartwell’s family, not just at the loss of a son but the loss of a son that no one really seemed to care about in the wake of the famous Dunn. Hartwell was all but forgotten, until now.
Hartwell’s parents, after waiting what I would consider a respectable amount of time, filed a suit yesterday against Dunn’s estate. They are also seeking damages from the Bar, Barbaby’s West Chester, that allegedly served Dunn until he was wasted.
The filing say that Hartwell’s parents are suing because
“they have lost the services, guidance, and comfort of their son”.
They want Dunn’s estate to cover the cost of burying their son. Also, they are suing for their son’s traumatic experience before death. As it states,
‘pre-impact fright, fear, pain and suffering’ that Zach experienced before he died.
On top of all of that they also want the estate to cough up wages that Zach would have earned for his life.
WAIT,WAIT…..TIME OUT.
I might agree with the funeral expenses but at the end of the day, and I mean no disrespect, Zachary had to be pretty sh*t faced himself, or an idiot. Dunn was obviously drunk and Hartwell was not forced to ride in the car. If you get in the passenger seat of a car driven by someone who is drunk you should be held as responsible as the person behind the wheel. If you are an adult, didn’t stop them and didn’t get out the car yourself, there is really no one to blame but yourself.
I know that sounds harsh, but they were both idiots. Let’s just be thankful that a real innocent person was not killed during the accident.
It will be interesting to see if the courts agree.
