Michael Phelps Looking to Perfect a Different Stroke on TV
Michael Phelps hinted that after retirement he would be working on his golf swing and it appears he will be doing it on TV. He will be on the Golf Channel’s show “The Haney Project”. Hank Haney used to be Tiger Woods swing coach which has catapulted him amongst the best swing coaches in the world.
Hanks show, The Haney Project follows a celebrity as they work with him on their game and take on the greatest golf courses ever created. Phelps joins the ranks of Charles Barkley, Rush Limbaugh and Ray Romano.
This show was perfect for Phelps’ next chapter. Phelps tells the press
“As I enter this next chapter of my life, I think I will be able to shift my competitiveness to anything I put my mind to, And golf is one of the things I want to focus on. … I want to play all the world’s great golf courses, but I’d like to play them well.”
Phelps will begin filming the fifth season of the Haney Project in September. Haney himself is excited to be working with a world class athlete but he knows he has his work cut out for him. Phelps has set some specific goals for himself,
“He wants to win his club championship, He wants to play golf so bad. He’ll be all right. It will take him a little while, but he should improve really fast. Michael has got such long arms. But it’s funny, because whenever anyone makes a comment that a guy has got a lot of potential, they’re always talking about one thing — he hits it a long way. The translation is he hits it everywhere.
The guy with a lot of potential is athletic, long and in search of his golf ball.”
Here is a look at Charles Barkley’s swing. This is not a joke, it really is his swing.
