Look At Georges St. Pierre’s Post Fight Photo – OUCH!!! Just Think, He was the Winner!

In most people’s opinions Georges St-Pierre is a pretty good looking guy.  After last nights legendary fight, his face looked like he walked into a Wood Chipper.

I have to give the UFC a lot of credit.  They are surpassing boxing in pure entertainment value and frequency of big fights.  With Georges St-Pierre’s return to the ring last night, the future for the sport just got even brighter.

Anyone who paid their money for UFC 154 more then got their money’s worth.  The event took place n Montreal at the Bell Centre in front of 17,249 screaming fans.  After an 18 month and 18 day lay off, St. Pierre was ready to get back into the ring.  Reconstructive knee surgery can easily end a fighters career.  For St. Pierre he thinks it made him better.  St. Pierre had the task of reclaiming his welterweight title from Carlos (Natural Born Killer) Condit and it was everything everyone was hoping it would be.

I’m not going to attempt to give a play by play of the fight.  I’m a gossip blogger not a sports writer.  I know when to stay in my lane.  However, I will give you the interesting tidbits.  Both fighters recieved fight of the night honors, which the UFC pays a bonus of $70,000 to each fighter.

St Pierre, although it looked like he had a rough night, one all 5 rounds and despite the ice pack, he said that he had a blast

“I was getting hurt, it was painful but I had a lot of fun. I love my job,”

Most of St. Pierre’s damage came from a kick to his face which nearly knocked him out.  He was dazed, fell back and Carlos was all over him throwing fists and elbows.  St. Pierre said during his post press conference,

“Before I put the ice on, my head had the shape of an American football, That’s why I put some ice on. I hope it gets better with time.”

 

GSP has not lost in over 5 years.  Next up is for St. Pierre can be possibly the biggest fight the UFC has ever had, Georges St. Pierre vs Anderson Silva. I’m sure UFC president Dana White is licking his chops as we speak!
