Michael Vick Cancels Book Signing Tour Due to “Credible” Death Threats

Looks like dog lovers are not easy forgivers.  Michael Vick had to cancel his appearances to promote his new book because of death threats received against him and his family.

Apparently these threats aren’t new. Vick has been receiving threats since he got out of prison.  The threats appeared to pick up after his decision to buy a dog as a family pet.  The public outcry was so much that Vick addressed this publicly last fall in a statement,

“I understand the strong emotions by some people about our family’s decision to care for a pet. As a father, it is important to make sure my children develop a healthy relationship with animals. I want to ensure that my children establish a loving bond and treat all of God’s creatures with kindness and respect. Our pet is well cared for and loved as a member of our family.”

Vick was supposed to host several book signings in Pennsylvania, Maryland and New Jersey when the publishing company decided that it was in Vick’s best interest to cancel the promotion for not only his safety but that of his family as well.  The most recent threats have been described as ‘credible.

The president of Worthy Publishing, Byron Williamson released a statement in support of Vick and his family

“We cannot knowingly put anyone in harm’s way and therefore we must announce the cancellation of Mr. Vick’s book-signing appearances.”

Vick also took to twitter and thanked his fans for support but he didn’t no mention the death threats, his book or the cancellations of the signings.

In the end it’s a shame because Vick’s book is about second chances and making the most out of them.  “Finally Free” describes Vick’s life, what he went through before, during and after the 18 months he spent in prison.

The question I have is, “Are the death threats from dog lovers or Eagles fans?”.  Both are known to be crazy!
