Tom Cruise Believes in Aliens?
Well, this news should certainly not surprise anyone. The somewhat controversial movie star Tom Cruise is currently doing press for his new movie, ‘Oblivion’ where his character is sent back to earth to gather all of the last remaining resources after the planet was destroyed 60 years prior due to an alien invasion. It turns that Tom Cruise might have taken the script a little too seriously,
“I don’t think you can actually count it out. It might be a little arrogant to think we were the only ones in all the galaxies throughout the universe — but I’ve never met one.” Cruise said when asked if he thought life existed on other planets.
The question came during a panel discussion at the movie’s premiere in Moscow. Cruise was also asked about space travel and if he had desire to go into space. Cruise told the reporters,
“Who wouldn’t want to do something like that? I’m going to let a couple of other people test it out first but it would be great. I was always hoping as a kid that we would be traveling to different planets by now.”
It kind of makes sense that Cruise believes in alien considering he is a Scientologist. I’m not sure entirely sure what they believe, but I think it has to do with some alien dictator sending “frozen souls” to earth millions of years ago. Which sounds completely crazy, but when you compare it to every other religion, it really doesn’t sound all that crazy!
Anyway, if Tom really wants to go to space he might want to ask Ashton Kutcher and Katy Perry if they have an extra seat for him. Ashton and Katy have both paid $200,000 for a seat on Virgin Galactic’s two hour mission, which is scheduled for late this year. Can you imagine spending $200,000 just for a seat? Geez. I’ve pretty much come to terms with the fact that I probably won’t even make $200,000 in my lifetime, so to just drop that kind of cash on a seat amazes me.
It makes me feel even worse about being the broke writer that I am. I can barely afford a seat on the bus, and here they are buying a seat to travel to space! I knew I should have paid more attention in school or auditioned for the Disney Channel when I was younger. Although, I don’t think I would have been cute enough. I was chubby and rocking a weird bowl cut, that doesn’t really fit with their image.
