Is the Nicki Minaj vs. Mariah Carey Battle Fake?

We all know that Nicki and Mariah apparently don’t get along. In fact, we knew that before they even aired the first episode of American Idol this season. There were reports of the two of them getting into big arguments months before the first episode aired. There was even a time where they both threatened to quit the show! However, they both thought better of it and learned to just “deal” with each other as best they could. And so far, it has been working fairly well. There haven’t been any “big” arguments between them, just a few disagreements here and there, but nothing out of the ordinary.

That changed last night, though. During last night’s show, Nicki and Mariah disagreed (or agreed…it was confusing) on Kree Harrison’s performance of, “She Talks to Angels.” Mariah noted that she loved her voice, but felt she was trying way too hard. Nicki “disagreed” with that assessment and the two love birds started arguing with each other. The argument ended when Nicki blurted out, “Simmer down, sir.” in her annoying fake British accent.

Do they really hate each other, though? Or is it just an act for the cameras? Well, after the show they were seen talking to each other. Sources say that it looked like they were having a very “nice” conversation, whatever that means. Idol contestant Angie Miller joked about the judges’ relationship, “They have a secret friendship, I’m telling you! They go on like lunch outings and talk.” Maybe, they’re not quite THAT close, but we’re willing to bet they do indeed play it up for the cameras.  Idol contestant Amber Holcomb said backstage after the show,

“The whole time it was happening onstage, my mouth was dropping. They (both) wanna get the last word so it never ends! That was something to watch.” 

Interesting…very interesting. While I certainly don’t think Nicki and Mariah are going out on lunch dates, I don’t think they hate each other. I think they have more of a “sister” thing going on. Mariah is the older and more “professional” sister and Nicki is the annoying younger sister who gets all the guys. At least, this is how I imagine it in my head when I picture Nicki and Mariah having a big pillow fight with each other.

Anyway, be sure to tune in tonight to see which Idol contestant gets eliminated this week! It’ll have to a girl this week, since there are no boys left in the competition.
